Based on this analysis, we determine the optimal drum diameter, shell thickness, shaft size, bearing arrangement, and hub design for your application.
Material selection is another critical aspect of our custom approach. Drum shells are fabricated from high-quality steel plates with thickness calculated to handle your specific load requirements. Shafts are machined from forged or high-strength steel bars to ensure they withstand torsional and bending stresses over years of continuous operation. Welding processes are strictly controlled, with each weld inspected to prevent fatigue failure under cyclic loading.
Lagging options are also selected based on your operating environment. Plain rubber lagging works well for standard dry applications. Diamond or herringbone patterns provide better grip when belts operate in wet, muddy, or oily conditions. For highly abrasive or high-tension applications, ceramic lagging offers superior wear resistance and extended service life.
Quality assurance is built into every custom drum. Before leaving our factory, each drum undergoes dimensional inspection, weld testing, shaft alignment verification, and dynamic balancing. For high-speed conveyors, precision balancing is especially important to prevent vibration that could damage bearings and reduce belt life.
