35-Degree Troughing Idler Set for Carrying Belt and Bulk Material

Product Details
Haihui 35-degree troughing idler sets are custom manufactured according to specific customer needs. These idler assemblies are installed on the carrying side of belt conveyors, where they support both the belt and the bulk material being transported. The trough shape increases material cross-section, allowing higher conveying capacity without increasing belt width.
Why Troughing Idlers Are Essential
Without troughing idlers, a flat belt would carry material poorly, with frequent spillage and low capacity. By forming the belt into a U-shaped trough, troughing idlers contain the material on the belt, reduce spillage, and increase throughput. The 35-degree trough angle is a common standard that balances capacity, belt flexibility, and material containment.
Custom Trough Angle Options
While 35 degrees is standard, Haihui can supply idler sets with other trough angles. Twenty-degree troughs are used for light-duty applications or fragile materials. Forty-five degree troughs provide higher capacity but require more flexible belts. The correct trough angle depends on material repose angle, belt type, and loading conditions.
Idler Roller Specifications
Each troughing idler set typically consists of three rollers: one center roller and two wing rollers. The center roller is horizontal. The wing rollers are inclined at the specified trough angle. All three rollers work together to shape the belt.
Roller diameter is selected based on belt speed and load. Larger diameters reduce rotational speed and extend bearing life. Wall thickness is chosen according to load and impact conditions. Heavier walls withstand greater loads and resist deflection.
Bearing and Seal Selection
Bearings are sized based on calculated radial load. Service life targets determine bearing grade. Sealing arrangements are tailored to environmental conditions. Labyrinth seals handle moderate dust. Multi-stage seals with contact elements protect against fine, abrasive dust. For wet conditions, water-resistant seals are available.
Frame Design
The idler frame holds the three rollers at the correct trough angle. Frame material and thickness are selected based on load and environment. Standard steel frames suit most applications. Galvanized frames provide corrosion resistance. Stainless steel frames are available for severe corrosive conditions.
Custom Dimensions
Idler length is determined by belt width. Non-standard belt widths are accommodated. Overall frame width and mounting hole patterns are customized to fit existing conveyor structures.
Surface Protection
Idler sets receive surface protection based on environmental conditions. Standard paint suits indoor applications. Electro-galvanized coating provides corrosion resistance for humid conditions. Hot-dip galvanizing protects against outdoor, marine, or chemical exposure.
Order Process
Customers submit belt width, trough angle, load data, and environmental conditions. Haihui engineers prepare drawings for approval before production begins.
