What Is a Tapered Self-Aligning Idler Set?
A tapered self-aligning idler set is typically installed on the carrying side of the belt conveyor. It consists of a central idler roller and two tapered end rollers mounted on a pivoting frame. When the belt begins to drift off-center, the tapered rollers create a steering force that guides the belt back to its proper path. The tapered shape generates different friction forces across the belt width, automatically correcting misalignment without manual intervention.
